JOINING THE CLUB

The Capreolus Club represents the finest Club of its type in the UK and is committed to the betterment of species via the careful hunting and selection of sustainable, wild, free-range animals, and is a great way to get started and progress in the exciting world of Deer Stalking.

Whilst highly regarded, when left unmanaged with no natural predation, deer cause substantial damage to the environment. It is estimated that deer are attributable to a 50% decline in woodland bird numbers, including Nightingales, Willow Warbler and Black Caps. Defra and the Forestry Commission estimate that deer cause over 8 million pounds of damage each year to forestry and crops and are widely recognised as a serious threat to biodiversity. Carried out selectively and sympathetically the management of deer in the UK is an environmental must.

The Capreolus Club is dedicated to both the environment and to helping its members enjoy a climate-focused diet through the consumption of wild venison.

Venison is not only the healthiest of red meats, but also the most ethical. All animals shot by the Club are consumed. Through the consumption of wild, non-intensively farmed meat, our members enjoy a highly nutritious diet, that can reduce up to one tonne of CO2 per member each year.

The Club also values training and requires that in the absence of significant demonstrable experience, all members have either a Proficient Deer Stalking Certificate Level 1 (PDS1) or Deer Stalking Certificate Level 1 (DSC1).

For those who wish to complete a deer stalking course, we recommend completion of the Proficient Deer Stalking Certificate Level 1 (PDS1) delivered by the Shooting & Hunting Academy. Please follow this link to find out more and enrol: Proficient Deer Stalking Course - PDS1

The Shooting & Hunting Academy is a UK Registered Learning Provider and LANTRA and UK Rural Skills Approved Training Provider. The Academy hosts a number of accredited courses for those involved in deer management. Including the Deer Management Certificate Level 3 (DMC3), which represents the highest level of deer management training in the UK.
